Residents to provide input on LT Creek Flood Study

Lake Macquarie City Council is encouraging local residents to have their say on the LT Creek Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan.

Council’s Manager Sustainability, Dean Chapman, said community consultation is an important feature of the study, which will help to identify community concerns and provide an opportunity to share previous flooding experiences.

“The community’s ongoing involvement is integral to the flood planning process, so we encourage residents or businesses affected by flooding in these areas to have their say on the draft study and plan during the public exhibition period,” Mr Chapman said.

“We are particularly interested in receiving flood marks, photographs and records of damages from previous flood events from local residents to help formulate the final plan.”

To help Council gather data in relation to flood history in the study area, residents in the flood study area are encourage to visit haveyoursaylakemac.com.au/LT-creek-flood-planning to complete an online survey and share their flooding story before Friday 19 November.

The Study is aimed at meeting the objectives of the NSW State Government Flood Prone Land Policy and is funded by Council and the State Government’s Flood Risk Management Program.
