Coastal residents lend their passion to plan

Residents who live work and play on the coast have come together at a series of workshops to hear about Council’s draft coastal zone management plan and have their say on what actions should be prioritised in managing our coastal zone.

Manager Sustainability Alice Howe said she was pleased that so many residents took the time to review the draft plan and work together on guiding actions for managing our environment and assets.

“Managing coastal hazards and balancing the competing needs of our environment and recreational activities was a consistent theme across the workshops,” Alice said.

“Our residents are passionate about ways to maintain community access and enjoyment of our catchment, foreshore and coastline. Their feedback is important as we review the actions in the draft plan and ensure our priorities are in line with community expectations,” said Alice.

Online engagement will continue until 31 January 2015, and a series of drop in days will be held in January for residents and visitors to the City to comment further on Council’s draft Coastal Zone Management Plan.
