Strategy 5 - Encourage smart energy and smart grid management

CLOSED: This discussion has concluded.

Electric vehicle charging provides opportunities and challenges for the way we source energy and manage the grid. With our partners we will undertake smart-charging trials. These will explore ways to improve EV charging management, charge EVs from renewable energy and investigate how to include EVs into the grid. We will facilitate appropriate data sharing to improve charging outcomes.

Do you support this Strategy and the Actions that underpin it?

EVs are not the future there’re not even a stop gap. We are yet to see the future in transport.

How much do you waste on fuel yet you ask what this costs.

Not as much as the premium you pay to drive an EV which still don’t have the capacity to fill the needs of most families

The simple fact is we all have an energy account & pay a dollar a day to be connected why restrict that to one location. When we front to a charger we should be able to tap our card to verify our home account the energy we use then gets added to our bill at a cost depending on our home plan rates, & if we are putting out solar at home then our usage is deducted from that just as if we were home. This talk of supplying green energy to the charger's & charging way to much is just a money maker. Make the system as above & focus on cleaning up the entire grid.

Buy a diesel there’re cheaper and greater than any EV.

You may not have noticed but this is no longer a discussion of which is better. Your may try another more appropriate forum for your uneducated comments. P.S I just sold a diesel to purchase my 2nd EV.

Really then why are we talking about subsidising charging points. We changed from the horse because the ICE was better as yet EV,s aren’t .

LMCC has little control over the management of the grid. Sourcing from the grid is expensive and needs to be paid for.
