Fernleigh Awabakal Shared Track - FAST

Council is in the design phase for the northern section of the Fernleigh Awabakal Shared Track (FAST), a shared pathway linking the end of the Fernleigh Track at Belmont with Blacksmiths Beach.

The northern section stretches from the existing Fernleigh Track to Hilda Street near Belmont Golf Club.

We are considering various options in terms of the route the track will take, the design of the track and optional extras such as architectural features, wider paths to separate cyclists and pedestrians and an extended boardwalk at Belmont Lagoon.

We’re seeking community feedback to help guide our priorities during this process, keeping in mind budget limitations and the requirements of a NSW Government grant providing $7.4 million of the $12 million total project cost.

It is important to note that while all facets of the project will comply with industry standards as a minimum, extra spending in one area may require trade-offs elsewhere.
