The team received a request from a local resident to hear from an expert at a future community planning event or Q & A session. Thank you for the suggestion, we will look at this and arrange for an expert to come along and speak with the Pelican and Blacksmiths community shortly.

Why can't you Relocate boat ramp at Pelican to old original site south of existing ramp as a temporary until council decides to fix ramp.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your question.

Council officers have investigated the feasibility of providing temporary boat ramp access along the Pelican foreshore to facilitate lake entry for small boats. This investigation examined the potential to use a temporary boat ramp structure, placed on the site of the old boat ramp, as has been put forward by several local residents. Due to the significant erosion of the foreshore and the fast flowing channel currents experienced at the site, it’s is not considered feasible to deploy a temporary boat ramp structure.

Additional alternative boat launching facilities are located within close proximity to Pelican including Blacksmiths Channel Reserve Blacksmiths and Belmont South Foreshore Reserve, Paley Street, Belmont South. Two other launching facilities are also located at Thomas Humphreys Reserve, access via Wallarah Street and at Lake Street, Swansea.

    Hope this helps.
