Consultation has concluded
The exhibition period for this project has now closed.
Glendale is a major emerging regional centre within the Lake Macquarie local government area that provides retail, commercial and sporting facilities to the Lower Hunter region.
Council has developed a draft Area Plan to:
guide the long-term expansion of this important regional centre to deliver more jobs, retail and entertainment opportunities;
plan for new pedestrian and bike links through Glendale;
establish an environmental corridor around Winding Creek;
support the development of the proposed Lake Macquarie Transport Interchange that will provide a railway station, new bus station, and park-and-ride facility; and
provide additional open space for local residents andvisitors to enjoy.
The draft Area Plan applies to land used for business purposes and does not apply to residential areas. The draft Area Plan outlines the proposed structure of the Glendale regional centre.
The draft Area Plan is a document that will be used to assess development applications submitted to Council.
