What work has Council done on Grannies Pool previously?

    In late 2017, Council made some improvements at Grannies Pool, including an accessible, 350m-long shared pathway that connects the Grannies Pool car park to the existing pathway along the Swansea Channel breakwall, as well as resurfacing of the car park, a new concrete viewing area and an access path to the pool.

    Bahtabah Land Council were also involved in the project, installing interpretive signage providing visitors with an insight into the story behind Swansea Heads, while 1600 new plants enhanced the native vegetation in the area. Council crews also resealed the access road, off Ungala Road.

    When was the last time sand was moved from Grannies Pool?

    Crown Lands removed sand in 2015.

    Where will the sand removed from inside the pool be placed?

    Sand will be placed towards the beach end of the Grannies Pool area alongside the breakwall.

    How long with the work take?

    Up to two weeks.


    Can I still swim in Grannies Pool when the work is taking place?

    Due to safety reasons, access will be restricted to the swimming area during this time.
