Lake Macquarie City Council is focusing its efforts to support local innovation with the exhibition of the draft Imagine Lake Mac: Innovators Support Roadmap.
The draft Roadmap aligns Council with regional efforts to support local innovators, and they are asking people to share their story on the interactive map by dropping a pin and sharing with Council what they’re working on, the problem they’re trying to solve or how they are helping local innovation collaborators.
Council’s Deputy CEO Tony Farrell said that recent research shows that the most successful cities of the future will be driven by innovation, which is why we need to invest as a City and a community to nurture, retain and attract innovators.
“Liveability and innovation are very closely linked, so we are lucky in that respect that our City has so many appealing qualities such as our beautiful lake, our coastline, diversity of housing and access to services,” said Mr Farrell.
“This draft Roadmap lays the foundation to continue improving the liveability of the City, but also drives our focus on developing a co-innovation program, where we can continue to collaborate and partner with innovators and creators.
“We would like to hear from innovators and creators or anyone who has an idea or project that may be interested in collaborating with Council. A successful partnership could result in the development, testing or implementation of a project or service that helps improve our City.”
