Edgeworth Library - My children's second home

by Jo I, over 8 years ago

My children are 9, 7 and 3 and all of them have spent a considerable part of their life at Edgeworth Library. They all know Allison really well and she is absolutely wonderful with them. They have all participated in Read and Rhyme time over the years and all love to read and to be read to. I credit their love of reading to all the library visits over the years and the engagement they find there (as well as making it a priority at home).

Allison is interested in all of us and there is a lovely feeling of... Continue reading

    Library as a study space

by Ems86, over 8 years ago

I know one way you can improve speers point library, retrain your librarians to refresh their memories on library ettiquite.

With the school holidays upon us I needed to escape the hustle & bustle of my home to get some much needed QUIET study time at the library. I was pleased when I walked in and saw a few people quietly working on the computers and a librarian putting some books on the shelf, so I set myself up at the desk & began my study. Everything was going well until about 10minutes in, I could hear women chatting and... Continue reading

    Edgeworth Library

by lakemac1, almost 9 years ago

Please keep Edgeworth Library open, as being a pensioner distance is an issue. I do not own a computer and it is a luxury to come to Edgeworth Library and spend some time there.

Friendly staff and atmosphere at the Edgeworth Library

by Brenda, almost 9 years ago

I love visiting the Edgeworth library - the visual pleasure of the friendly staff; the happy readers as well as the entertained children (when there is a children's event on) always make me smile. There is always something to be found and if for some reason I can't find a book, the librarian always helps me out. Allison knows my reading tastes now, and shares recommendations accordingly.

Recently we have had various author visits which I've thoroughly enjoyed. Organised well with a large patronage, the guest as well as readers always enjoy themselves.

Even though there isn't a lot of... Continue reading

    Belmont Library.

by swinkies, almost 9 years ago

I have been a loyal patron of Belmont library for 12years and I just think it is a wonderful library and very helpful, friendly and welcoming staff. Belmont Library already has alot to offer but I do think it needs more facilities so as to gain more patrons like myself.

I would love to see a coffee area and lounges and / or bean bags where people from all ages can have a cuppa and recline with a book, make the atmosphere more relaxed. I think there is still a stigma associated with libraries where it is stiff and you... Continue reading

Sheltering from the Rain or the Sun - There is always warmth from the Staff at Edgeworth Library.

by Santa, almost 9 years ago

I like the way that the internet and the physical presence of the books and the Building are integrated.

I can browse the shelves and ask the staff for leads on similar titles in the network.

I can extend on line, seek other material on line.

I use computers in house and the wifi which is invaluable to me. I also like to read the papers in the window on the table.

Closing at Lunch time can be worked around.

The only positive thing about limited car parking and no Toilet - is that I get some exercise going across... Continue reading

    Belmont Library

by lakemac1, almost 9 years ago

Belmont library is a necessary part of the community, as a meeting point, arelaxing venue, a valuable source of information. As a retired teacher, I knowhow important it is to read to young children. Our younger generation oftenignores the library until they have their own children and then it againbecomes an exciting place to be.

    Belmont Library

by lakemac1, almost 9 years ago

Started using the library with my grandaughter and love reading - its my greatest joy. Very important for the library to be supportive of students - particularly HSC students. With reading - I've travelled and experienced all sorts of countries and cultures without leaving home. Always find something in the collection to take home each week.

Work with schools and families to make sure that children are introduced to the library.

    Belmont library stock

by have your say, almost 9 years ago

More book titles. If I am reading a trilogy, I would like to know that the library will stock the entire series. Can be hard to find the series in another branch as well. staff are good at helping me request the series from other branches when they are available but this can take a while yo come in.

Smarter stock ordering - consistent author series - if you are going to have series 2 of a series, it would be great to have the first book.

More accessible information for study - expanded reference section that could also be... Continue reading
