Two things
by Twitterbug, almost 9 years agoI like the reservation system at the libraries but I appreciate the Speers Point library where you can go and pick up the reservations left for you on the shelves. No waiting, use the self help and you are out of there in a flash! Would like this service expanded out.
Also a list of the book clubs in the libraries would be helpful. With information on the standard age range or focus point of the group so you can choose the best club choice for you. eg. 20-30 age group, mother's group, classic books, popular fiction focus.

Belmont Library is tops
by Laura, almost 9 years agoI think Belmont Library is fantastic, the staff are amazing in their knowledge and dedication to providing excellent customer service, they provide an impressive range of services already but I would like to see them increase their children's crafts that they held before Christmas. I think it ran over 3 weeks and the kids loved it. I think it would also benefit from some programs aimed at primary aged children as this seems to be an area that is lacking. I also think a coffee shop/cafe would be very popular, especially as they have stopped providing the free tea and... Continue reading

Library Innovation Review
by Lem, almost 9 years agoAfter I visited the Library stand at Belmont this week I decided to do some on line research to see what others are already doing or thinking about doing. I found very quickly this excellent document from the Arts Council England. In this document there are many great ideas of changes that can be made to libraries to make them more relevant in the future. Its well worth the time to read through this article to get a host of practical and successful initiatives already in action. M. Llewelyn

Losing a family piece of my community puzzle....is sad......
by Melody, almost 9 years agoTo whom it may concern,
I have recently moved away from the area, but love and miss the small family and community feel of Edgewroth Library. During the four(4) years i lived here i visited every week and loved using all the libraries facilities.....it has been difficult with the introduction of wifi facilities and the constant hassals with computers as we are a small library and only have three (3) public computers for us to use.
The upgrades that are currently happening in and to the Lake Mac computers are terrific in all branches but Charlestown....Sallelite signals limits Edgeworth when... Continue reading

what would we do without it?
by akuaku20, almost 9 years agoEdgeworth library, a place where my friends and I come to enjoy the piece and quiet from the outside world. A place where we can be ourselves, a place where we need a bit more space. you can find it easily, it's nearby an entertainment centre and allows us to get away from the noise it creates. the staff are friendly, the people who come here are all known well. in a world of noise, of chaos, we are able to relax with a slight hum of the cars going by, we are able to disappear from those who might... Come in and be surprised!
by Mirglip, almost 9 years agoToday's Libraries need to offer something for just about everybody, and they need to be interesting and inviting so that people will want to visit. They should be located "On the ant trail", where they will be most visible to the passing parade. Outwardly attractive, they need to be stocked with all things necessary to satisfy people's hunger for knowledge not only from the past and the present, but also knowledge that is developing through current research and development. The library depicted above uses art and architecture to draw people to its core. Notice the European technique of using the... Continue reading

Our Great Belmont Library .
by Pamela Pilgrim, almost 9 years agoOur library can continue to be the hub of the community by engaging with local mothers groups, and there are so many of them, to have more times when littlies are read books to and therefore the parents are also exposed to the library. It becomes a very welcome meeting place for mums and kids. Another useful service I see is to have elderly people who are not able to get out on their own have a bus come and pick them up from their house and bring them to the library. It would serve as an outing and also... Continue reading

A place to read, relax and have a coffee
almost 9 years agoI like the idea of having a coffee and a light snack while I check out new fiction titles and maybe some magazines. Would be great if this was near the kids collection too so they could also explore and read a book or two. Would be hard to maintain this as a quiet area though I imagine. Glad to have the opportunity to contribute.
