In 2020, Council engaged specialist consultant WMAwater to undertake a Flood Study Assessment for eight urbanised waterway tributary catchments.
This study completes Council’s flood study coverage of the major catchments within the City.
The tributary catchments included in the study are:
Plains Gully Creek at Swansea and Caves Beach
Sheppards Creek at Croudace Bay and Valentine
Muraban Creek at Floraville and Belmont North
Mills Gully Creek at Belmont and Valentine
Fullers Creek and Freshwater Creek at Bonnells Bay
Mannering Creek, Swampy Creek and Wyee Creek at Wyee
Postmistress Creek at Sunshine and Morisset East
Puntei Creek at Carey Bay.
This exhibition closed 28 July 2021.

We value your experiences and appreciate any information of flooding history in your area to inform the flood study. Don't forget we are looking for photographs of flooding events that can help paint a picture about the flooding history and assist us to understand possible trends. The survey takes about 5 mins to complete.

The work completed to date has been compiled into a draft Flood Study Report and placed on public exhibition for further feedback.
Implementation of the Plan
Lake Tributary Flood Studies is currently at this stage
After public exhibition of the floodplain risk management study and plan, it will be submitted to the elected Council for adoption. Once adopted, Council will implement the plan.
