Community workshop and information booths held for Morisset Library and Community Building project

Morisset residents have been having their say on the proposed new community building that will house a new library and form part of a civic precinct and social hub.

A community workshop and two community information booths were held in September with participants identifying challenges and opportunities they see regarding the concept designs, the site location and how the proposed facility could be used.

Manager Cultural Services,Narelle Reichert, said she was pleased with the level of interest in the community for this project and recognises that there is a lot of passion for, and a strong community connection to, the current Memorial Hall that is proposed to be replaced by the new facility.

“The feedback we received from the Memorial Hall Trust and the RSL has again showed us that we need to keep working with the community to find the right way forward for this project, to create a facility that is respectful to, and appropriate for, this growing community’s needs,” Narelle said.

The next steps for the project will include an independent heritage assessment of the Morisset Memorial Hall, further stakeholder consultation and applications to obtain funding for the proposed new building.
