Help for children with learning difficulties
My connection with the hall is for the last three and a half years I and 8 other retired volunteers (mostly trained primary teachers) taught local children struggling with reading, spelling and numeracy. This program was available two afternoons a week during school term.
Access to this program has meant that parents unable to pay fees for tutoring have been able to get their children much needed individual help. The Lower Hall has been a marvellous room for our purpose.
This means that the Hall is still very much a Literary Institute as well as a Memorial Hall.
