My Community Project

This project has now closed. Thank you to everyone who has submitted a project. We are now reviewing all projects and will be in contact soon.

Do you have a project you'd like to get off the ground to ensure Lake Macquarie City continues to be a vibrant City to live, work and play?

The NSW Government’s ‘My Community Project’ opens shortly, and we’re inviting ideas for community projects that need funding of $20,000-$200,000. Council will assess ideas until the 21 April 2019, when it will shortlist the projects most closely aligned with the funding criteria.

Every NSW electorate will receive the same amount of funding.

Funding is provided to local projects such as playgrounds, community mobility services, public gardens, upgrades to local sporting facilities, upgrades to local halls, public art, cultural festivals, youth programs, and healthy lifestyle initiatives.

Before submitting your idea, ready our handy hints and tips.

Council is one potential supporter for community projects, and is looking to support projects that can be delivered within 12 months, achieved within the proposed budget, and that align with a Council plan or strategy.

If you’re idea will benefit the community, but doesn’t align with a Council plan or strategy, you may like to consider approaching your local sporting club, Aboriginal Land Council or not-for-profit for support if they are more closely aligned with your project.
