Consultation has concluded

Thank you to everyone who participated in this consultation. In March 2018, a number of community members approached Council regarding pedestrian access and safety issues along Beach Road, Redhead. As a result, we undertook extensive consultation to identify the preferred option to improve this issue.

The preferred option was to extend the footpath from Webb Park along the southern side of Beach Road with pedestrian access over Freshwater Creek, as illustrated in the plan.

Construction will commence in the 2019/20 financial year. The design and layout includes resurfacing the road pavement, new footpath and pedestrian fencing improvements.

The options for improved pedestrian safety were:

Option 1a - pedestrian refuge or crossing, and associated works could be installed within 12-18 months, and cost approximately $50,000

Option 1b - pedestrian refuge or crossing, and associated works could be installed within 12-18 months, and cost approximately $50,000

Option 1c (i) - kerb extensions, and associated works could be installed within 12-18 months, and cost approximately $40,000

Option 1c (ii) - pedestrian refuge or crossing, and associated works could be installed within 12-18 months, and cost approximately $50,000

Option 2a - footpath extension with pedestrian crossing, and associated works could be approximately $150,000, and would be unfunded by Council in the short to medium term

Option 2b - walkway with pedestrian crossing, and associated works could be approximately $150,000, and would be unfunded by Council in the short to medium term.
