Planning for Cardiff

A vibrant local centre balances the movement of people and goods with places that are pleasant to spend time in, live or work. Having access to the right mix of transport in suitable locations also adds to the enjoyment of a neighbourhood.

Councils Local Strategic Planning Statement identifies Cardiff as playing an important economic and social role in the City.

We want to unlock the potential of Cardiff, for new and existing residents, workers, businesses, shoppers, visitors and travellers; with more walking and cycling facilities, new public spaces, investment in smart technology, high quality buildings, simpler and more efficient parking and more business opportunities.

How will we do this?

The following three documents on Public Exhibition will enable Council to begin planning for Cardiff over the long term and help realise it’s potential as a vibrant centre. You can provide feedback on these draft Plans until 5pm 1 June, 2021.

Draft Cardiff Strategic Planning Framework (18 pages)

This draft Plan brings together the NSW Government Movement and Place Framework and the Lake Macquarie City Council Local Strategic Planning Statement to identify the opportunities in Cardiff centre and the surrounding neighbourhood.

Draft Cardiff Area Plan (19 pages)

This draft Plan supports the desired future character of Cardiff and is an integrated guide to development on private land.

Draft Cardiff Transport Management Plan (5 pages)

This draft Plan identifies the improvements needed for better, easier and safer walking, cycling and transit use, along with private and service vehicle parking. The Plan will support the outcomes contained in the draft Planning Framework and draft Area Plan.

We invite the community to view these draft plans and provide feedback by 5pm 1 June, 2021.
