    My Love of Awaba House

by Patricia Eveleigh, about 4 years ago

My interest in Awaba House is extremely personal. T.A. Braye was my great grandfather.

I lived in the cottage that was situated in the far south/west corner of the Braye property on Marmong Road and adjacent to the high school (the school was built while I lived there).

Some of almost every day was spent with my aunts, Kath Braye and Helen Street (Dr Braye) at Awaba House. Beautiful Memories

by Vina Chubb, about 4 years ago

This was a beautiful building and should be restored with definitely the facade and internally opened up into a function centre. The restaurant could be modernised . My son played the grand piano in the “house “ many years ago in a concert . The restaurant is such a beautiful place to have lunch and a great place to bring visitors.in a peaceful setting overlooking the lake and mariner. It was a great asset to Lake Macquarie .

    Show case Lake Macquarie

by Kathleen, about 4 years ago

Such a great place to show case Lake Mac! We celebrated my Mums 80th birthday there with family coming from all over NSW. It was lovely! Since then it had been our favourite place for celebrations. Lovely to be on the lake with beautiful views (without a road in front), good food and lovely grounds close to home and easy to access. Really hope it will be rebuilt.

Catching up with friends and family

by Barry Knowles, about 4 years ago

Awaba house has been a favourite place to take our visiting friends and relatives. We have walked there, cycled there, paddled our kayaks there, driven our boat there.. The view is special, the Art gallery a point of interest, and the food fabulous. We would have liked to go there in the evening as well if possible. Definitely want to see it back in action as a restaurant and bar with even better trails to get there on an active day or evening out. Fabulous spot for evening music events. An amphitheater on the hill could add another dimension, as... Continue reading
