The Lake Macquarie Local Strategic Planning Statement was adopted by Council on Monday 9 March 2020.
With changes to the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, we were required to develop a Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS). The LSPS describes how we intend to achieve our City's vision and values by guiding the growth of the City over the next 20 years.
To achieve this, the LSPS identifies:
The Community's vision for future land use in the City
Seven Planning Priorities that articulate the special characteristics of the City
Strategies that summarise how we will deliver on the Planning Priorities

Late 2019 - LSPS Exhibition
Shaping the future has finished this stage
The draft Local Strategic Planning Statement is on public exhibition until 29 November.
January to June 2020 - Final report
Shaping the future is currently at this stage
The final version of LSPS will be prepared based on feedback received during the consultation period and reported to Council
for adoption, followed by endorsement by the Department of Planning, Industry
and Environment.
July 2020 onwards - Implementation
this is an upcoming stage for Shaping the future
The actions from LSPS will inform future Delivery
Programs and Operational Plans to ensure LSPS is implemented.
