Draft Area Plan for Buttaba Hills South Estate

The Buttaba Hills South Estate is 34ha of forested land on the western slopes of Lake Macquarie, with high biodiversity values and a desirable residential environment. The planning challenge for the estate is to balance biodiversity conservation with the demand for new housing in a bushland setting.

Council has prepared the draft Area Plan for the site with input from the Buttaba Hills South Action Committee, agencies responsible for bushfire, water resources, Aboriginal land management and infrastructure, and following several flora and fauna studies. It provides three options for landowners regarding the future land use and development within the estate.

On Saturday 10 September the project team will hold a Buttaba Hills South Estate landowner meeting to discuss the draft Area Plan on public exhibition. This is a good opportunity for landowners to find out more about the planning and development considerations for the estate and the options presented in the draft plan. The team will be available to answer questions and assist in making a submission.
