Why is Council preparing a draft Master Plan for Thomas H Halton Park?
Council has identified Thomas H Halton Park as a major recreational hub, which can provide a variety of recreational opportunities to the current and future residents of Lake Macquarie. To assist in delivering these opportunities, Council identified a range of new facilities within the Charlestown Development Contributions Plan.
In order to ensure all the proposed facilities and spaces integrate effectively, a draft Master Plan of the entire park has been developed in consultation with the community.
Is funding available to undertake this project?
Yes. All new facilities and upgrades have been identified in the Charlestown Development Contributions Plan, which was adopted in 2015. Funding is now available.
When is Council planning to start construction of this new recreation precinct?
The expected timing for commencement of upgrade works at Thomas H Halton Park is 2018.
