Why is Council preparing a concept design for Warner Park?

Council identified a range of new facilities within the Charlestown Development Contributions Plan, including an upgrade to Warner Park at Warners Bay.

To make sure the upgrade best reflects the needs of the local community, a draft concept plan for the park is being developed in consultation with park users and stakeholders. We're seeking input from the community now and your ideas will assist us in making sure this upgraded park provides many benefits to local residents and other users in the years to come.

Is funding available to undertake this project?

Yes. This park upgrade has been identified in the Charlestown Development Contributions Plan, which was adopted in 2015. Funding for this project will be available from 2016/2017.

What’s involved in preparing a concept design for this park?

A concept design for the park will be prepared in consultation with park users and the community. The proposed upgrades include new play equipment, new disability accessible amenities block, replaced perimeter fencing, new furniture and landscaping and management of some existing trees.

Once the concept design is approved, detailed plans will be prepared before construction can get underway. It is expected that construction will start at the end of 2017.
