West Wallsend is an area with significant historical value allowing a unique opportunity for revitalisation.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this consultation. The project team are currently reviewing all feedback received and will report back back soon.
The West Wallsend Heritage Masterplan comprises a suite of draft documents to guide the long-term revitalisation of public space development within the West Wallsend local centre. These include:
The draft West Wallsend Heritage Management Strategy sets a clear vision and set of heritage design principles based on the local community's aspirations and values for West Wallsend. This vision will form the blueprint for staged improvements to the public realm of West Wallsend, with an overarching intention of reinforcing the unique sense of place and historic character of the township.
In support is the draft West Wallsend Heritage Streetscape Masterplan, which covers a number of components including recognising and linking sites of heritage significance, pedestrian and cycle connectivity and safe access, street trees, public spaces, heritage nodes and key projects. The purpose of the draft Masterplan is to guide Council and the local community in the future management, design and improvement of the West Wallsend streetscape.
To provide feedback you can complete the survey below. The survey asks a number of questions on the draft Heritage Streetscape Masterplan and concludes with questions on the draft West Wallsend Heritage Strategy. Alternatively you can click on the interactive map of the Central Precinct below the draft documents to find out what is planned and comment.
This is an extended consultation until 7 July.
