We’re preparing to revise the Area Plan for the West Wallsend and Holmesville Heritage Conservation Area (HCA).
On 22 May 2023, Council provided a resolution for us to seek a gateway determination to exhibit the draft planning proposal. It may take a number of months for the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) to assess. Once approved, the documents will be placed on public exhibition for further community feedback.
In July-August 2022 we asked the community to:
provide feedback on the recommendations in the draft Working Report, which outline changes to key Council documentation that will control future development in the area.
provide feedback on their house structure observed from the streetscape for the draft Building Assessment Report and share any other local history. It will assist us to revise the document to further articulate the Heritage value of the area.
Where feasible, Council will revise the Local Environmental Plan (LEP) and Development Control Plan (DCP), specifically in relation to the West Wallsend and Holmesville HCA, based on the findings and recommendations of the Working Report and community feedback from the first round of consultation.
Community consultation closed 15 August 2022.
