We’re expanding West Wallsend Swim Centre to include a new learn-to-swim centre.
It comes as rapid residential growth in and around West Wallsend and Cameron Park causes an increase in demand for the existing 25m pool.
The project also aligns with Council's adopted Aquatic Facilities Strategy, which identifies the expansion of the swim centre as a high priority action.
Concept designs show a three-laned, heated indoor pool with:
- an accessibility ramp into the pool
- shower wash-off area
- bench seats
- non-slip decking
- wheelchair access into the pool area
- pool covers
- accessible bathrooms and showers
- change rooms
- new lifeguard workspace to provide better surveillance
- sign-in desk
Council is also looking to upgrade the car park to the east of the swim centre, allowing for additional parking at the centre.
