Boolaroo Local Centre improvements

Council is planning for the future of Boolaroo Local Centre.

We are developing a long-term vision for Main Road that combines essential road rehabilitation works with a streetscape master plan for the local centre. The project aims to create a safer, more accessible, attractive and connected place for residents, businesses and visitors.

We're inviting the community to share what they value about Boolaroo, what is working well, and what improvements should be considered as planning progresses.

Have your say

Complete our online survey by 29 November 2026 and tell us:

  • what you value most about Boolaroo
  • how Main Road is performing today
  • what improvements should be prioritised
  • opportunities to improve safety, accessibility and public spaces
  • how we can support local businesses and maintain Boolaroo's unique character
  • what trade-offs should be considered when planning future improvements.

Your feedback will help shape the place recommendations and design principles that will inform the streetscape master plan.

Survey closes: Sunday 29 November 2026

About the project

Main Road plays an important role in the Boolaroo community. It connects people to local businesses, services, schools, recreation facilities and public transport.

The road and surrounding infrastructure are also reaching the point where significant renewal is required. About 1.4km of Main Road contains ageing pavement, footpaths, kerbs and other infrastructure affected by historical ground movement and asset ageing.

Council is taking this opportunity to look beyond basic road rehabilitation and consider how the local centre could be improved over the long term.

The project will explore opportunities to:

  • improve pedestrian safety and accessibility
  • enhance walking, cycling and public transport connections
  • improve streetscape amenity and comfort
  • increase shade and landscaping
  • celebrate local heritage and identity
  • support local businesses
  • create attractive and welcoming public spaces.

Any future improvements will need to balance community priorities with safety requirements, technical constraints, available funding and long-term maintenance considerations.
