Disability Inclusion Action Plan

FAQ

A Disability Inclusion Action Plan is a strategic plan that outlines how Council will improve accessibility and inclusion for people with disability in our community, by reducing or removing barriers. It also encourages the broader community to recognise their role in creating a safer, more welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

It outlines Council’s commitment to supporting people with disability and includes practical steps to improve accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities in our communities.

The plan focuses on four key areas: developing positive attitudes and behaviours towards people with disability, creating liveable and accessible environments, supporting meaningful employment opportunities, and improving access to information and services.

People with lived experience, community groups, service providers, internal stakeholders, government organisations and community members will have the opportunity to share their experiences, ideas and priorities during the development of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan.

The Disability Inclusion Action Plan has four key outcomes areas:

  • Attitudes and behaviours
  • Liveable communities
  • Employment
  • Systems and processes
