The VibrantSCENE Program was a pilot designed to support Lake Mac hospitality businesses adapt to COVID-19 physical distancing restrictions. It ran between 1 August 2020 and 12 December 2022.

The focus of the pilot was to expand outdoor dining areas in unique ways that could serve customers safely. Existing hospitality businesses were encouraged to create outdoor dining 'precincts' in parks or carparks, and food van operators came together to organise food van hamlets. The broader community had the opportunity to give feedback about where they'd like the temporary hospitality offerings to be located.

The pilot was an innovative experiment, trialling new ways for the community and businesses to interact with one another – with the adaptive use of Council land being at its heart.
