Belmont library a hands down winner

I have attended Belmont library almost weekly for 4years with my 3 children for books n babies. It's a brilliant service, and one that I could visit my local library for but we drive that extra distance to Belmont, as they are the hands down winners for this. My suggestion for Belmont library is to section off part of the library and offer a Café run by an 'outsider' chosen by a tender process. I have previously worked in a bookshop with a café and it was very successful. My twist on this is to offer a kids play area to amuse toddlers while parents can sit back and enjoy a coffee for 20mins of peace. The nearest childs play café is Gateshead and those who live in areas south of Belmont could appreciate a venue closer to home. A daily story time run in conjunction with the library and possibly even monthly entertainment from dance schools, drama groups, crafty people could work twofold with increasing patronage for the café/ library and extra exposure for the local 'entertainers'. As a parent, I would love something like this closer to home, something I don't have to be involved in. Plus, I can bet that most parents would catch up with a friend at the same time, possibly even playgoups could get involved...

I would love to try the baby yoga, but am waiting for my daughter to be old enough, activities like this where we think outside the square are amazing and well worth a try.

On another note, I love the reservation service offered by the library and was stunned when it became free. I am more than happy to pay a small charge for this service. Also, maybe with the closure of many local DVD shops, an increase in stock held by the library to fill the hole left. Many people don't use downloads and are happier to do it the old way.
