Come in and be surprised!

Today's Libraries need to offer something for just about everybody, and they need to be interesting and inviting so that people will want to visit. They should be located "On the ant trail", where they will be most visible to the passing parade. Outwardly attractive, they need to be stocked with all things necessary to satisfy people's hunger for knowledge not only from the past and the present, but also knowledge that is developing through current research and development. The library depicted above uses art and architecture to draw people to its core. Notice the European technique of using the walls, the floors and the ceilings to capture one's attention, creating a desire to be drawn further inside to witness even more wonders that the library provides through its content. The library's offerings should never stagnate. It must be dynamic, always adding to its present offerings so that people will be curious enough to continue visiting. Inside should be calm and comfortable, with eye-catching displays that engage the visitor. Silence is not necessary, thus allowing for demonstrations, guest speakers, audio-visual exhibits, interactive workshops and so on. Those visitors needing to read in silence could utilise noise-cancelling headphones provided in the library. Visitors should be able to make suggestions for changes they would like to see in their library and resources that they would like to see purchased. Multiple computers should be connected by very fast and efficient networking to any library database in the world. Likewise, visitors should be able to scan, save or reproduce any content that interests them. Our library should be the meeting place for the coming together of the minds of all people, a level playing field which facilitates the intellectual and personal growth of all individuals. It should arrange itself to be available to all, irrespective of disability, language or culture. Ignorance is not bliss. Education is the solution to all of the world's problems. Our modern library can lead towards this.
