Our Great Belmont Library .
Our library can continue to be the hub of the community by engaging with local mothers groups, and there are so many of them, to have more times when littlies are read books to and therefore the parents are also exposed to the library. It becomes a very welcome meeting place for mums and kids. Another useful service I see is to have elderly people who are not able to get out on their own have a bus come and pick them up from their house and bring them to the library. It would serve as an outing and also a time when they can have conversation with others about books they enjoy. Belmont has a great many house bound people but their brains still work well but they just can't either walk to the library or manage public transport. Perhaps even a cuppa could make the morning a wonderful time. A homework centre for infants and primary children could be set up for after school with someone volunteering to help out with the necessary skills.
