  • Flood study adopted

At its meeting on Monday 8 December, Council adopted a flood study for Morans Creek, Stockton Creek, Mullards Creek, Clarks Creek, Melaleuca Creek and Dora Creek.

The Stockton and Neighbouring Creeks Flood Study improves our understanding of flood behaviour and impacts within the Morisset area, and will help better inform management of flood risk now and into the future.

The Stockton and Neighbouring Creeks Flood Study is a key technical study informing the preparation of the Morisset Place Strategy, and will help identify areas suitable for future growth and development in the regionally significant growth area of Morisset.

Specialist consultants, Engeny, were engaged to undertake the flood study. A computer model, calibrated against historical flood events, was used to simulate flood behaviour to help understand expected impacts of different rainfall events.

Maps have been produced indicating the peak water depths, contours, velocities, hazard and hydraulic classification for a range of different flood events.

The study will inform advice on section 10.7 planning certificates and minimum floor levels for new development.

Updated data will also be made available through Council’s free Property Flooding Information Summary tool and the NSW SES Flood Data Portal.
