Morisset Place Strategy

We're planning for a well-connected, welcoming and future-focused Morisset.

The draft Morisset Place Strategy provides a strategic framework for future land use in Morisset. It brings together community priorities, strategic directions, opportunities and constraints, and sets a clear and coordinated direction to guide growth over time.

Our draft strategy seeks to strengthen the qualities most valued by our community, including well-serviced, vibrant centres and access to bushland and the lake. It promotes greater choice with more diverse housing and transport options and a balanced distribution of residential and employment land to support a resilient local economy and a high quality of life.

You're invited to read the draft Morisset Place Strategy, discover how Morisset will grow and develop into the future, and explore the priorities your Council will pursue to achieve our shared vision for southwest Lake Macquarie.

Submissions on the draft Morisset Place Strategy are open until 14 July 2026.

Project background

Morisset was identified as a regionally significant growth area in the Hunter Regional Plan 2041. Morisset and the supporting local centres of Cooranbong and Wyee represent the largest future growth area in the Central Coast and Hunter and will be a major point of connection between Greater Newcastle and Central Coast communities.

In June 2023, we released the Morisset Place Strategy discussion paper to seek community input on the vision, principles, actions and studies for growing Morisset. The consultation closed on 14 September 2023 and the engagement summary is available online.

Since then, we have been working on building a robust evidence base for the place strategy, completing key studies and seeking funding for additional research. The studies completed so far can be found under the Documents section of this webpage.
