Morisset shared pathway

About the project

We’re planning for the future by improving active transport connectivity through Morisset.

We’re designing Stage 2 of the Cooranbong to Morisset cycling route, following the recent completion of Stage 1 from Cooranbong to Stockton Creek via Avondale University.

Running along Stockton and Kahibah streets from Freemans Drive, the new shared pathway will make it easier to travel to places like Morisset High School, Bernie Goodwin Memorial Park, Morisset Swim Centre and the PCYC, without having to rely on the car.

Existing footpath connections along Kahibah and Stockton streets will be upgraded to a wider shared path, creating a continuous off-road cycling route from Bernie Goodwin Memorial Park to Freemans Drive that’s suitable for walking and cycling.

The simplified plans below show planned shared pathway works around Morisset Swim Centre. 

Council is in the early stages of planning and designing a future upgrade of Morisset Swim Centre, which will include a new dedicated learn-to-swim pool and improvements to the car park.  

With this in mind, our shared pathway designs show driveway access to the centre from Kahibah Street slightly north-westward of its current location.

The bigger picture

We’re upgrading shared pathways across Greater Morisset to help connect our community – whether you’re on foot, using pedal power or other kinds of active transport. 

The Greater Morisset area (encompassing Morisset, Cooranbong and Wyee) is experiencing significant growth, which is expected to continue in the years ahead. 

We know these growing communities need access to active transport infrastructure, like shared pathways, if they’re going to leave the car at home and choose to walk or cycle to access everyday services and activities.  

As part of the development of our Morisset Place Strategy, Council is working with Transport for NSW to create an Integrated Transport Plan for the area.
